Children love smelling nice. For many, putting on a little perfume before going out feels like a grown-up moment, and it's a sweet way to make ordinary days feel special. Here are seven simple tips to help parents use perfume with kids sensibly.
1. Choose a perfume made for children
Kids' perfumes are usually softer and lighter than adult fragrances. Pick one designed for children and suitable for your child's age. Most are meant for ages 3 and up.
2. A little goes a long way
One or two light sprays is plenty. Children's scents are meant to be gentle, and a soft scent is more pleasant for everyone around them, too.
3. Spray on clothes, not the face
Spray on clothes, a scarf, or the back of the wrist. Keep perfume away from the eyes, mouth and face, and never spray it directly at a child.
4. Do a small test the first time
The first time, spray a little on clothing or a small area and wait. If your child has sensitive skin, eczema or allergies, ask your doctor before using any fragrance.
5. Let a grown-up be in charge of the bottle
Keep perfume bottles somewhere you can supervise. Let your child choose when to wear it, and help them with the spray.
6. Store it properly
Keep the bottle with the cap on, away from direct sunlight and heat. This keeps the scent fresh for longer, which matters in Pakistan's hot summers.
7. Make it a happy routine
Perfume can be a lovely part of special moments: Eid mornings, birthdays, school functions or visiting Nani and Dadi. Children remember these little rituals for years.
